Today I wanted to share my top 10 kitchen tools. When looking to create a sustainable & healthy lifestyle it is important to not only look at what you are preparing but the tools you need in order to prepare it. Meal prepping doesn’t have to be an enemy & can be done quite quickly if you have a few staples in your kitchen. So today I am breaking down what those are for me & sharing links to some of the products I have, love & recommend!
#1- Crockpot- Easy for setting & forgetting! I love making shredded chicken, pulled pork, & soups in mine.
#2- Food Processor- I think this would have to be my all time favorite kitchen tool. A relatively small tool that does so much! A basic one comes with shredding & slicing attachments so you can easily shred/slice things like carrots, zucchini & sweet potatoes. Along with the puree setting you can make things like soups, and mix up baking ingredients for desserts & things like energy balls in a flash!
#3- Measuring Cups & Spoons- so important for making recipes. If one measurement is off especially in baking it can throw off the entire dish. I like to have a couple sets on hand so I don’t run out when making a more than one thing at time!
#4- Knives both a Paring Knife great for chopping, dicing & slicing veggies into the perfect small sizes for any dish & a Butcher/Chef’s Knife- for cutting things like squashes in half to bake. Trust me from experience it’s worth the extra money to have a really high quality, sharp one to lower the risk of slicing your finger.
#5- Blender- Smoothies. Enough said. Perfect for a quick, delicious on the go breakfast & so easy to clean. (If you love smoothies, you should check out our Smoothie Reset eBook)
#6- Rubber Spatula- I love these because they are flat & make it so easy for getting the excess batters off the sides of bowls & eggs off the pan.
#7- Cast iron skillet- makes the best crispy brussel sprouts, cooks steaks in minutes, and makes awesome crispy chicken thighs all within a matter of 30 minutes or less. Plus clean up is so easy & these last a lifetime if you take good care of them.
#8- Ceramic pans- it’s so important to not use Teflon. Ever wonder what happens to the Teflon when it chips? It gets mixed up in your food & you consume which causes endocrine disrupters in the body. In addition to these being a healthier option I find these are easier to clean and don’t stick as much.
#9- Steaming basket- love this for making veggies in a pinch, it makes meal prep easy and dinners quick. My favorite is steaming broccoli to mix in with sweet potato & chicken for lunches for the week.
#10- A large pot- perfect for steaming veggies in the steaming basket, boiling things like potatoes, making big soups and stews during the winter and homemade bone broths.
